Best of 2019

It’s crazy reading my best of 2018 post, I only started running last year! It feels like a lifetime ago.

And I hope to still improve further as time goes on. I always feel like it’s a slow process, but actually I am really happy that in the last year and however many months, I have gone from over an hour to sub 40 5km.

I don’t think I will ever be a fast runner, but I am out there doing it and that is all that really matters.

On to the best bits, top 5 this year!

5. Vitality 10,000

This was my first ever real life 10km road race, and I was so nervous! I knocked 22 minutes off my 10km best effort!

I spent ages training for this and at first I was disappointed with the outcome, but now I couldn’t be more pleased with how it went. My first 10km race! And a PB!

It was let down by the experience of some runners reporting they did not get medals and shirts. Such a shame.

10km in progress…

4. Bedford Twilight 10km

My 2nd fastest 10km, with amazing views, new friends made and a fantastic race. I’d definitely do this again.

The race organisation and marshals were superb.

Finish line beer, yaas.

3. Adidas City Run 1 Hour

This race was my first introduction to time not distance racing that I now LOVE! I had a fantastic time and the atmosphere was brilliant.

I came away with a PB for 400m, 1/2 mile and 1km.

A great place for a race

2. Run Silverstone

This was a last minute decision, but it was awesome. You get to run on the track! My 2nd fastest 5km and fastest km so far.

It was a bit wow!

1. Salcey Forest 6 Hour Challenge

This became my first race trail half. It was a slow one, but the event was one of the best I have done this year. In fact, I have signed up for 4 more next year!

I love the format, they have amazing flapjacks and allll the sweets at the aid station.

Keep going…

Bring on 2020!
